GLOBAL: The novel coronavirus that emerged in mainland China in mid-December has now gripped about 214 countries and territories of the 247 recognized by the United Nations. Of these, 190 have also experienced local transmission — where the virus has spread within the community. There have been deaths in at least 166 of them.
Putting the whole world on a standstill the novel coronavirus has infected more than 3.3 million people and killed at least 234,000 worldwide. With 2,031,648 active cases out of total 3,308,772 confirmed cases, the nations across the globe continue to struggle against an invisible enemy.
4,552 new cases & 303 new deaths have been reported in the past 24 hours globally. There have been 234,133 fatalities with 1,042,991 recovered cases.
The US has recorded 1,095,304 confirmed cases and total 63,871 deaths till now. With no significant improvement, the condition of the US has been deteriorating. Meanwhile, the government is planning to reopen more than half of all states in the US partially by the end of the week, despite health experts warning it could raise the risk of a second wave.
The number of deaths reported in the UK has increased drastically, surpassing the tally of fatalities in Spain & France.The last week has been disappointing for Russia as it has reported maximum new cases with a rise in deaths.

63,871 deaths have been recorded in the US, followed by Italy (27,967). There has been a huge increase in the number of deaths in the UK (26,771) placing it at the third place.

Despite the rising numbers of coronavirus cases worldwide, South Australia ought to be considered among the safest places in the world. On Friday, the entire country reported just 16 new cases, a sharp decline from a peak of 460 new infections on March 28. In some states, the curve has completely flattened.
Five countries and territories have managed to rid themselves of the virus after reporting cases. These are Anguilla, Greenland, the Caribbean islands of St. Barts and Saint Lucia, and Yemen.
None has reported deaths or state any currently active infections, with previous cases having fully recovered.
Also, there are still 33 countries and territories that have not yet reported a single case of the novel coronavirus.
