Chhattisgarh: Chhattisgarh is ranked first in the country in terms of providing employment to rural areas people under Mahatma Gandhi Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MNREGA), an official said Wednesday. The whole county is in lockdown state from more than one month. In this critical situation, Chhattisgarh emerged as a Savior of urban people, by providing maximum numbers of the job to village people. Chhattisgarh government is working extensively to save the rural economy and to protect the livelihood of people in rural areas as well.

Currently, Chhattisgarh is the leading job producer in the country under the MNREGA scheme. Nearly 24% of labores which are employed under MNREGA across the country comes from Chhattisgarh. This is the highest rate in the country in term of providing employment under the MNREGA scheme. Currently, 18,51,536 labours have been employed under the various ongoing MNREGA works in 9883 Gram panchayats of the state.


Chhatisgarh CM bhupesh baghel and Panchayat and Rural Development Minister TS Singh Deo have also praised and applauded the active approach and extraordinary efforts of all sarpanches for better implementation of MNREGA scheme under these difficult circumstances. Along with sarpanches they also congratulated state unit of mnrega, district and janpad panchayat teams for this extraordinary achievement.


By posting the tweet, CM Bhupesh baghel thanked all teams for their active participation and efforts. He also mentioned that now Chhattisgarh is a first in the entire country to provide the highest employment to the villagers under MNREGA in the lock-down. Around 24 per cent of the total workers which is engaged in MNREGA works across the country belongs to Chhattisgarh. Further, he added at present, 18 lakh 51 thousand 536 workers are working in various MNREGA works going on in 9883 gram panchayats of the state.


This is a major achievement amid challenging circumstances. The always active and ready behavior of sarpanches is commendable.


According to the statistics released by Union Rural Development Ministry, nearly 77 lakh 85 thousand 990 labours have been employed under MNREGA works across the country. Among them, i18 lakh 51 thousand 536 labours belong to Chhattisgarh which is the highest number of labours in comparison to other districts. Its nearly one-fourth of the total number of labours employed across the country. 

Rajasthan is in the second position in this list with 14% of the total number of labours employed under the MNREGA scheme.  Uttarpradesh stands in third position with 12% of the total number of labours employed in the country. Despite the nationwide lockdown, Chhattisgarh has performed excellently in implementation of MNREGA schemes in the current fiscal year.Rajnandgaon, Janjgir-Champa and Mahasamund have provided the highest employment under MNREGA in Chhattisgarh.
