Kyiv: While the peace talks continue between the two leaders at war, Zelensky said that he is ready for negotiations with the Russian President Vladimir Putin but warned that if they fail “that would mean that this is a third World War”.
Heavy fighting continues in the North of Kyiv reported the Ukraine Defence Ministry. “Russian forces advancing on the city from the north-east have stalled. Forces advancing from the direction of Hostomel to the north-west have been repulsed by fierce Ukrainian resistance. The bulk of Russian forces remain more than 25 kilometres from the centre of the city,” the official statement said. Reportedly four died and one sustained injuries after an airstrike caused the fire on Monday. So far 6 deaths are reported from the overnight shelling in the capital. The ministry further added that two missiles gutted training grounds in the Rivne region.
Early on Monday morning, Sumy reported ammonia leaked from Sumykhimprom chemical plant at 4.30 am local time as a result of a Russian airstrike. The affected area is estimated to be around 2.5 km from the site, including the villages of Novoselytsya and Verkhnya Syrovatka. There’s no threat to Sumy residents, said the governor of Sumy Oblast Dmytro Zhyvytsky.
People within the affected area have been asked to take immediate shelter underground, go to their bathrooms and turn on their showers at a fine spray, and breathe through a damp bandage (preferably moistened with 5% acetic or citric acid solution) if ammonia is detected.
According to the UN, nearly 900 civilians have been killed and about 1500 wounded since the Kremlin invaded Zelensky’s estate.
