Raipur: The budget session on the seventh day witnessed discussion on the much-anticipated issue of Sand Mafia in the state. Congress MLA, Channi demanded information on the number of cases registered with the Forest Dept on illicit sand transportation in the year 2021-22 in Khujji Constituency. As per the information given by the forest minister, only one case was registered in the year before CM issued a stern warning.

Dhamtari MLA Ranjana Deependra also sought information on issues related to water supply and pumping namely pipeline extension and tap connections. In response, Public Health Engineering Minister Guru Rudra Kumar stated that 4 waterworks were completed under NABARD and informed that committees were formed in villages under the Jal Jeevan Mission.

The Budget session for the state Legislative assembly began on 7th March and will run until the 25th. On Day 6th, the house saw discussions on recruitment of teachers and lifting of procured paddy. It was also learnt that the eight people killed in the operation Edesmetta village were not “ Maoist” but tribals as per the report tabled by CM.
