New Delhi: Issuing statement on the accidental firing of the Indian Missile that landed in Pakistan, Defence minister Rajnath Singh in the Rajya Sabha said, “On 9 March 2022, in the course of routine maintenance, a technical malfunction led to the accidental firing of a missile. The Government of India has taken a serious view and ordered a high-level Court of Enquiry.” His statement further informed that the SoPs stated for maintenance of missile systems were also being checked. The statement came in view of the accidental firing of an Indian missile that landed in Pakistan on Friday. However, no loss of life was reported.
Subsequently, MEA Chief S Jaishankar is also expected to make a statement in the upper house today afternoon. He would shed light on Op-Ganga under which Indian students were evacuated from the war-hit zone and share India’s stand on the conflict.
Meanwhile, on Monday the Lok Sabha was adjourned for the first time in the second half of the budget session that resumed from 14th March. Prior to the adjournment Jammu-Kashmir Appropriation Bill 2022 was passed. Approval of additional RS 1.07 crore in the current fiscal budget was sought by the centre, as per reports. Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman presented a Rs 1.42 lakh crore budget for the UT J&K for the year 2022-23 in the Lok Sabha. She also presented the supplementary demands of Rs18,860 crores.
