Karwadha: A Naxal couple carrying a reward of Rs 13 lakh surrendered in Karwadha, police officials said on Monday.
The Naxal couple identified as Area committee commander DVC K Karan and Area Committee member Anita turned themselves to the police citing the “Lon Varattu” campaign. They were awarded cash of Rs 10,000 each as motivation and were also educated about the benefits they could avail from the rehabilitation policy by the govt.
It is being learnt that the surrendered Naxals informed the police about this couple, after which a counselling session from the police helped them revert to the mainstream. The Naxal couple reportedly carrying a bounty of Eight and Five Lakhs were active members of the Bodla Area committee under Kanha Bhoramdev Division Committee, a Naxalite organization active in the district.
The surrender was confirmed by Durg IG, OP Pale through a press conference.
