New Delhi: The Indian Aviation Ministry has announced to resume scheduled international commercial passengers services from March 27th. The flights will operate under specific SOPs issued to the Indian airports.
“After having recognized the increased vaccination coverage across the globe and in consultation with the stakeholders, the Government of India has decided to resume scheduled commercial international passenger services to/from India from 27.03.2022, i.e. start of Summer Schedule 2022,” read a statement from the Civil Aviation Ministry.
Scheduled commercial flights were halted for two years as the pandemic raged since March 23, 2020. However special flights had been functioning between India and 40 countries since July 2002 under air bubble arrangements.
The air bubble norms were recently expanded after Operation Ganga was launched to lift stranded Indians in war-hit Ukraine. Apart from commercial flights, the IAF has also engaged its aircraft to evacuate thousands of Indians stranded in the conflict zone.
