New Delhi: The Indian embassy in Ukraine, issued a second advisory on February 28th instructing stranded students to report at the railway station in Kyiv to reach the western region of the country.
We sincerely request all Indian nationals/students to remain calm, peaceful and united. A large crowd can be expected at the railway stations, therefore, it is advised that all Indian students remain patient, composed and especially not to exhibit aggressive behaviour while at the railway station,” the advisory said.
Indian students are requested to carry their passport, sufficient cash, ready to eat meals, easy accessible winter clothing and only essential items, to ensure easy mobility. Be mindful of your belongings at all times,” the advisory added.
It further mentioned keeping calm as delays and cancellations might be expected as there is a massive crowd boarding the special evacuation trains.
All stranded Indian students in Ukraine are being moved to neighbouring countries through dedicated officials assigned by the embassies in the neighbouring countries.
The MEA instructed those crossing into neighbouring Poland, Hungary, Slovakia, Romania and Moldova only after coordinating with the authorities. Three more flights are planned in the next 24 hours – two from Bucharest to Mumbai and Delhi, and one from Budapest to Delhi.
The MEA asked students and their parents not to panic about flight availability. “Flights are not the constraint. Please don’t get worried. Once you cross the Ukrainian border, we will ensure more flights. Our main concern is to ensure Indians are able to cross the Ukraine border safely,” Mr Bagchi said.
Two flights on Sunday brought home 489 nationals to Delhi through Air India flights engaged under operation Ganga.
