Sukma: Reward carrying Naxals surrendered before the Sukma district police, CRFP 219 Corps Cobra, 204 Corps, 50th Corps and Zilbal, police said on Monday.

Nearly 19 Naxalites surrendered amongst whom four were women. Moreover, it is being informed that three Naxalites were also carrying a bounty of Rs 1 lakh each. The women are reported to have been involved in several incidents in the Bhejji police station area.

The surrendered Naxals reveal to have been influenced by the Poona Narkam Campaign run by police officials in Sukma District. Under the campaign, the surrendered Naxals are provided with rehabilitation services and arrangements for the education of the children and given jobs to adopt a normal lifestyle. The Naxal eradication programme-Poona Narkom Abhiyan (New Morning New Beginning)-is being run in the Sukma district to call Naxals to the mainstream.

The Sukma Police achieved huge success on January 1st 2021, 44 Naxals including nine women surrendered.  So far, several Naxals from Chintagufa, Chintalnar, Bhei area have surrendered and returned to the mainstream. The Maoist organization has suffered a major setback after the large-scale surrender.
