Raipur: The North American Chhattisgarh Association (NACHA) has come ahead to offer help to the stranded Chhattisgarh residents in Ukraine. It is reported that under the initiative so far 150 students from the state have been contacted and have been connected to the President of the Association, Ganesh Kar through What’s App.
Comforting parents in the state, Ganesh Kar said that all students were being contacted regularly and were also being transported to the nearest evacuation site given by the Indian Embassy. NACHA which has contacted nearly 150 students so far has sent their details to Mayank Pal, the nodal officer the Baghel govt appointed to look after Ukraine evacuations.
“ We are deeply saddened by the situation and are concerned about the safety of all students who are struggling to return to their country. Some are living in universities, shelters, basements, bunkers and in many more areas are awaiting contact, said Ganesh Kar”.
Nearly 16,000 Indians are stranded in the war struck nation. As per the information held by Chhattisgarh Ministry, several students were urging help from the GoI. Late in the evening on Friday, protests sparked where families of the members stranded in Eastern European country demanded immediate action from the GoI gathering around the Embassy of Russian Federation in Central Delhi. The crowd dispersed hours later after submitting an MoU at the Ministry of External Affairs.
Earlier on Friday, CM Bhupesh Baghel had a telephonic conversation with EAM chief S.Jaishankar and urged swift evacuation of students stranded.
