Contemplations over IPL’s commencement come to an end, as BCCI on Thursday decided to kick off the 15th season IPL from March 26th. The board acceded to the demands of their official broadcast partner which asserted the event must begin from the 27th.

The Governing Council of the cricket board along with its senior officials conducting the meeting virtually also confirmed the schedule that was released a day before. As per the schedule 55 matches would be played in Mumbai across three different venues and 15 would be played in Pune. 4 stadiums across the two states have been designated for the matches, according to which 20 games would be played at the Wankhede stadium, 15 others at Brabourne stadium, 20 more at DY Patil and the 15 remaining in Maharashtra Cricket Association ground in Gahunje.

The board further informed that IPL 2022 would be played amidst the crowd unlike its previous season in Dubai Leg 2. The IPL will kick off on March 26, the full schedule will come soon. We will also have crowds but as per the policy of the Maharashtra government. Whether it will be 25 or 50 per cent of the stadium capacity will be decided by the government instruction,” IPL chairman, Brijesh Patel said.
