Raipur: A special court in Raipur sentenced a man to 20 years of rigorous imprisonment for kidnapping and raping a 5-year-old girl in Balod District.
Special judge Mukesh Kumar Petre on Tuesday convicted the accused under POSCO. The accused is identified as Ramkumar Salam a 25-year-old resident of Bhainsbod under Balod police station limits. He is charged under the POSCO Act and IPC Sections. A fine of Rs 3,5000 has also been imposed on him.
According to the prosecutor, Channu Lal Sahu, the minor was abducted in November 2021 and sexually exploited. The complaint was lodged after the girl returned home and narrated the incident to her parents. Taking swift action in the case, the police arrested Salam immediately and the charge sheet was produced in the court within 48 hours of the incident.
