New Delhi: Farmers from Chhattisgarh today convened with the SKU leader Rakesh Tikait in Delhi. State farmer leaders Rupan Chandrakar and Kamta Prasad were in Delhi, sources report. This meet comes a day after the  Cabinet sub-committee of the Chhattisgarh government has accepted six of the eight demands of farmers of the capital project area and has appealed to them to end their ongoing protest.

It is reported that the farmers from the state put forth their demands and urged Rakesh Tikait and Yogendra Yadav to come to Nava Raipur and support them. The SKU leader in response had stated to discuss the issues with the senior congress leaders and if no solution was sought would join others protesting in Nava Raipur.

Interacting with the reporters on Monday, Agriculture Minister Ravindra Choubey and Forest Minister Mohammad Akbar said that the sub-committee had approved the six of the demands while the others were still being deliberated. “We have fulfilled major demands of farmers and the ‘Kisan Kalyan Samiti’ must end their agitation immediately,” they said.

The panel agreed to issue a land title for the habitat area, remove audit objections, induct family members of affected in contractual appointments in Nava Raipur Development Authority and allot commercial shops and gumtis to the affected farmers through lottery.
