Mumbai: The mortal remains left his residence on Thursday morning. They were carried by his son Bappa, who returned from Los Angeles, and son-in-law Gobind Bansal. Visuals of the cremation ceremony surfaced on social media where the daughter of the legendary composer and singer is seen inconsolable as her fathers’ last rites began.

Tributes pour in as the Disco King of India embarked on his last journey to Vile Parle Crematorium. Besides members of the Lahiri family, filmmaker Biswajit Chatterjee, Rani Mukerji’s brother Raja and actor Sharbani Mukerjee paid their last respects to the singer-composer at his funeral. On Wednesday, members of the Hindi film and music fraternity visited Bappi Lahiri’s residence. Kajol and mom Tanuja, singers Alka Yagnik, Shaan and Abhijeet Bhattacharya, and composer Lalit Pandit were also pictured at the late composer’s house. Celebrities who shared their journey with Bappi Daa paid a visit to the departed soul.

Bappi Daa breathed his last on Tuesday night due to (OSA) Obstructive Sleep Apnea. Bappi Daa, who contracted COVID in April last year had been on episodic visits to the hospital after the singer sustained severe issues. After being treated for 15 days, Bappi Lahri was discharged from CritiCare Hospital on Monday night and was re-hospitalized after his health deteriorated on Tuesday.

Bappi Lahri was a magnanimous personality in the film industry. The voice which made every Indian a disco Deewana. May god impart strength to his family and rest his soul in peace.
