Washington: US President in a televised message from the White House on Tuesday, pressing to resolve the Ukrainian crisis through diplomacy warned Russia of severe sanctions if it chose to invade the neighbouring country. He added that the Pentagon is ready to engage in diplomacy with Russia and our allies and partners to improve stability and security in Europe as a whole.

Although the Russian military department claimed to have moved away forces earlier in the day, Washington and their allies yet had to verify if the troops that mustered along Ukraine’s border departed. It was during the day, Moscow’s Defence Ministry announced some soldiers and hardware were seen returning to their bases after the exercise, the Kremlin claimed off.

Addressing a joint news conference after a meeting with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz said Russia “off course” did not want war, instead was willing for solutions with the West. NATO`s chief welcomed signals from Russia in the past two days that it may be looking for a diplomatic solution but urged Moscow to demonstrate its will to act. However, several NATO members still raised cautions claiming to believe if they see the withdrawal.

President Joe Biden said the US is willing to “keep pursuing high-level diplomacy” to negotiate “written understandings” with Russia. After the phone call on Saturday, Biden claimed that his country has “put on the table concrete ideas to establish security environment in Europe,” referring to a written document the United States submitted to Russia last month to address Moscow’s security concerns.
