Bhopal: The Lokayukta team has lodged a complaint against the absconding Assistant Health Officer of Municipal Corporation Zone-5, Ajay Shravan Patel in case of bribery.

The Indian Parliamentary Ombudsman, also raided the health officer’s house on suspicion of having disproportionate assets. However, the investigating team failed to gather any proof as the accused officer hid all documents.

The incident came to light after Pankaj Khubchandani, a polythene trader in Sindhi Colony lodged a complaint with to Lokayutka SP after the Assistant Health Officer harassed him to pay Rs 10,000 bribe per month instead of Rs5,000 that the trader had promised. On Thursday, the Lokayukta team nabbed Satish near Bhopal Railway Station ,who came on behalf of the Asisstant Health Officer to collect the bribe.

Madhya Pradesh had banned plastic carry bags on May 24, 2017, after the National Green Tribunal (NGT) asked the state to do so. A special task force to eliminate single-use plastic was constituted. The task force under chief secretary would review the steps initiated in the state to eliminate plastic menace. Urban administration and development department is responsible for eliminating single-use plastic in urban or city areas, while in rural areas, panchayats and rural development department are responsible for this particular task.
