New Delhi: India recorded 58,077 fresh infections in the past 24 hours. The recovery rate at 97.17 per cent accounted for 1,50,407 recuperations in the last 24 hours taking the total recoveries to 4,13,31,158. The daily positivity rate stood at 3.89 per cent.

The number of active cases stood at 6,97,802 accounting for 1.64 per cent of the total number of cases. The active cases reported a drop by 92,987 in the last 24 hours. However, the mortality rate stood at 1.19 per cent reported spike in deaths recording 657 fatalities, taking the cumulative death toll to 5,07,177.

Worst hit state Maharashtra reported 6,248 new cases during the last 24 hours. The cumulative active tally stood at 74,108. Meanwhile, the national capital recorded 1,104 cases, taking the total infection count to 18,48,619.

During a weekly press conference, pressing the media NITI Aayog’s Member, Health, Dr V.K. Paul, said India’s first homegrown Messenger RNA (mRNA) Covid19 vaccine, being developed by Pune-based Gennova Biopharmaceuticals, is currently under final clinical trials. Responding to a question on vaccination coverage, Joint Secretary at the Health Ministry Lav Agarwal said though there is variation in coverage of vaccination between different age groups, but collectively the vaccination pace is still good in the country.

The health bulletin documented 171.79. crore cumulative vaccinations under the nationwide vaccination drive, including 48.18 lakh administrations in the past 24 hours. 74.78 cr total tests are conducted so far as per ICMR. Nearly 14,91,678 tests were conducted in the last 24 hours.
