Mumbai: The Uddhav Thackeray govt today eased COVID curbs in the financial district. This came as a huge relief to the Mumbaikars who were barred from moving on the streets after 11 pm.
In view of the declining curve, authorities relaxed the curbs but haven’t relieved them completely. Social places like theatres, gyms, restaurants, swimming pools and water parks could operate with only 50 per cent capacity. Whereas beaches, gardens and parks would open to the fullest capacity.
Weddings can be held with 25 per cent attendance or 200 guests in open grounds and banquet halls. All religious gatherings/ Bhajans or folk entertainment were also allowed to be held with a capacity of 50 per cent. The order permitted a 25 per cent seating capacity for sports and other events that demanded an audience. All local markets and tourist spots can now operate as per their normal timings keeping COVID behaviour in place.
Mumbai on Sunday recorded 960 new Covid-19 cases and 11 deaths, taking the total number of related deaths to 16,623. However, the cases have declined in Maharashtra and Mumbai significantly. The state on Tuesday recorded 14,372 new Covid-19 infections and 94 deaths. Active Coronavirus cases in the state are at 1,91,524.
