New Delhi: India recorded 2,09,918 fresh infections in the past 24 hours The recovery rate at 94.37 per cent accounted 2,62,628 recuperations in the last 24 hours taking the total recoveries to 3,89,76,122. The daily positivity rate stood at 15.77 per cent.

The number of active cases stood at 18,31,268 accounting for 4.43 per cent of the total number of cases. The active cases reported a drop by 53,669 in the last 24 hours. However, the mortality rate stood at 1.20 per cent reported spike in deaths recording 959 fatalities, taking the cumulative death toll to 4,95,050. COVID-19 cases in Kerala continued to rise with the southern state reporting 51,570 new infections on Sunday taking the total number of affected people to 59,83,515.

Ahead of the Budget session, Rajya Sabha Chairman M Venkaiah Naidu and Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla on Sunday discussed preparations for meeting amid the surge in coronavirus cases. During the meet, Om Birla suggested that members of both the Houses can be seated at different locations by name to avoid confusion, crowding and inquiries. Mr Naidu accepted the suggestion, parliamentary sources said.

The health bulletin documented 166.03 crore cumulative vaccinations under the nationwide vaccination drive, including 28.90 lakh administrations in the past 24 hours. Those in the age group of 15-18 will start receiving their second dose of Covid vaccine from today. Covaxin is the only vaccine option available to those in the 15-18 age bracket.
