New Delhi: Recently, Home Minister Amit Shah interacted with doctors and health workers who announced a protest against the continuous attacks on health workers. He spoke to the Indian Medical Association (IMA) and doctors and appealed to them not to go on protest. The Home Minister also assured the doctors that the government is with them.
Home Minister Amit Shah and central Health Minister Dr Harsh Vardhan interacted with doctors of the Indian Medical Association via video conferencing on Wednesday. In this video conferencing, Amit Shah assured everyone that the government will fully corporate and support them. He also appealed to the doctors to not to go on any type of strike or protest in this crucial situation. This is the time when doctors are getting praised by every citizen of India.
Earlier, IMA had announced to observe April 23 as Black Day if government fails to enact the Law on violence against doctors and hospitals.
“If the government fails to enact Central Law on violence against doctors and hospitals even after White Alert, IMA will declare Black Day on April 23. Our legitimate needs for safe workplaces have to be met. Abuse and violence should stop immediately. White Alert to the nation – All doctors and hospitals to light a candle at 9 pm on 22 April, as protest and vigil,” states a notice issued by the association.
In this matter, in 2019, the Health Ministry issued a draft, in which they mentioned of 10 years in jail and a fine of Rs 10 lakh to the accused of attacking the doctors. This draft was approved by the Law and Finance Ministry, but the matter got stuck in the Ministry of Home Affairs.
