Bijapur: Another Naxal attack is reported from Chhattisgarh’s Bijapur district. The incident occurred on the intervening night of Monday and Tuesday in Ketulnar village under Kutru police station limits, as confirmed by Inspector General, Bastar Range, Sundarraj P.

Reportedly, Jagat Sodi – a 50-year-old civilian owner of a grocery shop was mercilessly beaten to death by unidentified Ultra’s. The motive of the attack is yet to be ascertained. The body has been sent for autopsy after primary investigations sources revealed.

The latest attack on a civilian was reported on the eve of New Year in Rajnandgaon district where a 30year old man was killed by a Naxal who suspected the villager to be a police informer. The incident was reported from Nideli village, under the Naxal-hit Aundhi police station area, in the early hours of the day, said Harish Patil, sub-divisional officer of police (SDOP) of Mohla-Manpur area.

In the last week, Naxals have been taking down several including two of their cadres, in Bijapur. At least 47 civilians were killed by Naxals in the Bastar division in 2020 and 34 in 2021. Besides, as many as 51 ultras were gunned down in the division last year and 40 in 2020.
