Bhopal: Congress today demonstrated in favour of the justice visit of family member Bharti Karde in connection with the murder of 5 members of a tribal family in Nemawar, Dewas. Congress leaders along with Bharti had gathered at the state Congress office to meet Governor Mangubhai Patel to give him a memorandum demanding the arrest of the accused. As soon as they reached the Red Cross intersection, the police stopped them. Arguments with the police officers continued for a long time. After this, the police took the delegation of Congress leaders including Bharti to meet the Governor.

Earlier, former Chief Minister Kamal Nath met Bharti and told “that 5 members of her family were murdered. No action has been taken by the police in this matter. I will continue this struggle till my family gets justice. Atrocities are being committed against the tribals in the state, but they are not being heard anywhere. Efforts were also made by the government to stop our justice journey. Today, when we were going to give a memorandum to the Governor to get the whole matter investigated, the police stopped us on the way. We want a CBI inquiry into this whole matter. It has been announced but till now we have not received any order. The accused should be hanged.”

Former Chief Minister Kamal Nath said that Bharti is undertaking a ‘padyatra’ to demand justice. The government did not take any action against the accused. Congress leader Sajjan Singh Verma said that the voices of those demanding justice are being suppressed. Bharti’s journey was stopped with the help of the police force which reached Bhopal after 11 days. After the protest, former Chief Ministers Digvijay Singh, Kantilal Bhuria, Sajjan Singh Verma, Vikrant Bhuria, Ravi Joshi, PC Sharma, Bharti and others were taken by the police by bus to meet the Governor.
