Chhattisgarh: An investigation into the Naxal attacks perpetrated on Thursday in Pusnar Edinar area were fratricidal claimed Bastar IG Sundarraj on Saturday.  An internal rift between the Maoist community sparked killings in attacks in the forests of Chhattisgarh.

On Friday, ultras within Left-wing extremism affected Bijapur districts Gangaloor Police Station limit allegedly killed two of their own cadres, a couple who had eloped from a camp on Thursday. Hours later reports of another murder in the same area surfaced, a source said.

“Preliminary reports suggest Maoists’ militia platoon commander Kamlu Punem and militia member Mangi had eloped from a Maoist camp recently to get married. However, their colleagues traced the couple and brutally killed them after holding a ‘jan adalat ‘(Kangaroo court) in Indinaar village,” the official said. Sources inform that the duo wanted to get married and revert to the mainstream which the community restricted.

Militia commander Punem was wanted in connection to 11 Naxal related operations in Bastar division, while Mangi her would be was named in three such offences. Both the deceased were associated with the Maoists’ Gangaloor Area Committee the police added.
