Raipur: In the wake of rising coronavirus cases in Chhattisgarh, Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel has ordered a ban on rallies, processions and other kinds of public events across the state including the cleanliness rally to be organized in the capital Raipur on January 8th. Following the sudden spike in Covid-19 cases in the country, the election rallies and campaigning held by all political parties for the upcoming polls have come under the scanner.
Several politicians, including Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, Union minister Mahendra Nath Pandey and TMC’s Babul Supriyo, said on Tuesday they had tested positive for COVID-19. Yesterday 1615 new corona positive patients were identified in the state and 29 patients were discharged after recovery. The maximum numbers of patients are from Raipur, Durg, Rajnandgaon, Raigad, Korba, Balrampur, Janjgir Champa, Sukma and Korea.
The First Omicron patient confirmed in Chhattisgarh has been found in Bilaspur district. Health Department officials said that a 52-year-old man from Bilaspur district, who returned from the United Arab Emirates, was sent to the Institute of Life Sciences Bhubaneswar for a Genomic Sequencing Test after his sample was infected. The Health Department has received the test report today in which the Omicron variant of Covid-19 has been confirmed.
