New Delhi: India recorded 37,379 fresh infections in the past 24 hours. The recovery rate at 98.13 per cent accounted for 11,007 recuperations in the last 24 hours taking the total recoveries to 3,43,06,414. The daily positivity rate stood at 3.24 per cent.

The number of active cases stood at 1,71,830 accounting for 0.49 per cent of the total number of cases. The active cases reported a rise of 26,248 in the last 24 hours. However, the mortality rate recorded at 1.38 per cent reported a spike in deaths recording 124 fatalities, taking the cumulative death toll to 4,82,017.

Maharashtra is leading the Omicron tally recording 568 cases followed by New Delhi that has logged 382 cases. Amidst Omicron worries, state authorities have directed educational institutions to shut down for a brief period to prevent community spread amongst children.

Meanwhile, as per the notification by the Centre, children between 15-18 were vaccinated on Monday. The vaccination drive was held at all schools and dedicated centres.

Over 40 lakh teens got their first dose on Day 1, Health Minister Dr Mansukh Mandaviya said.”Well done Young India! Over 40 lakhs between 15-18 age group received their first dose of COVID-19 vaccine on the 1st day of vaccination drive for children, till 8 PM. This is another feather in the cap of India’s vaccination drive,” the tweet read.

As per the statistics reported to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, so far 146.70 crore COVID-19 vaccine doses have been administered in the country including 99.27 lakh doses given in the last 24 hours.
