Bhopal: Derogatory remarks against the father of the nation pulled Kalicharan Maharaj into controversy, as the Chhattisgarh police on Thursday arrested Hindu religious leader from Maharashtra from Madhya Pradesh’s Khajuraho.
To evade the police from tracking, all his close aides had also switched off their phones, sources said. This morning, a team of 10 policemen finally tracked him down, arrested him and took him back to Chhattisgarh’s capital Raipur. It is reported that Kalicharan had made several attempts to dodge the police however, the police succeeded in nabbing the hindu leader. It is speculated that he will be taken to the court by the evening.
Kalicharan Maharaj, was charged for promoting enmity between communities thorough his remarks on Gandhi, his assailant Godse and muslim minorities.Former mayor Pramod Dubey had lodged a police complaint with Chattisgarh police following the statements at Dharma Sansad, Raipur.Clipping from the event at Raipur floated in the social media featuring Kalicharan Maharaj who claimed that the aim of Islam is to capture the nation through politics. He also said “Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi destroyed the country… salutations to Nathuram Godse, who killed him”. Kalicharan Maharaj demanded people elect a “staunch Hindu leader” to “protect” Hinduism. Since these derogatory remarks surfaced, the police had been on the look out.
