Corona World Update: More than 24,00,000 cases registered and death toll crosses 1,65,000 worldwide

World: Coronavirus pandemic is showing no signs of abating. The virus is wreaking havoc world over. The number of coronavirus patients worldwide rose to 24,07,436. This includes 40,900 fresh infections detected on Sunday. The death toll has reached 1,65,085.

The coronavirus COVID-19 is affecting 210 countries and territories around the world & has been declared a pandemic by the World Health Organization. However, differences in testing mean that the number of cases may be understated for some countries.

24,07,437 confirmed cases and 165,085 deaths have been reported globally since 31 December 2019 and as of 20th April 2020. 

The USA, Spain and Italy continue to be the top three countries when number of coronavirus infections is considered. By Sunday number of infections in th US was 7,41,230. Spain (1,95,944) and Italy (1,78,972) were distant runner-ups.Meanwhile Russia reported maximum new cases. 6060 infections were detected in Russia. UK (5850) and Turkey (3977) were on second and third spot respectively.

• 16370 new cases and 1095 new deaths in the United States.
• 5850 new cases and 596 new deaths in the United Kingdom.
• 3977 new cases and 127 new deaths in Turkey.
• 3047 new cases and 433 new deaths in Italy. 
• 1528 new cases and 410 new deaths in Spain.
• 785 new cases and 395 new deaths in France.
• 1313 new cases and 230 new deaths in Belgium.
• 1343 new cases and 87 new deaths in Iran. 
• 1066 new cases and 83 new deaths in the Netherlands.
• 1250 new cases and 35 new deaths in India.
• 1088 new cases and 5 new deaths in Saudi Arabia.

Where have maximum number of coronavirus deaths occurred so far?

USA, Italy and Spain top this tally as well. 39,103 deaths have been recorded in the US, followed by Italy (23,660) and Spain (20,453)

Where have most number of coronavirus recoveries taken place?

Germany continues to top this list. There have been 88,000 recoveries in Germany so far. 77,357 patients in Spain and 77,062 coronavirus patients in China have been successfully cured.
