Mumbai: A New York returnee tested positive for Omicron on Friday informed the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation. Notably, the 28-year-old man is asymptomatic and is triple vaccinated the BMC added.

On being tested at the arrivals on November 9th, the passenger came back positive and after his sample was sent for genome sequencing, they confirmed the presence of the South African variant. The authorities have initiated contact tracing and so far, two of his high-risk contact have tested negative for coronavirus.

Soon after testing positive for COVID-19 in Mumbai, he was admitted to a hospital as precautionary measures. This new case has raised the tally of the financial capital to 15 including residents five residents from Mumbai. However, 13 of these have recuperated and are advised home care. So far, the state’s tally reached 40.
