New Delhi: India recorded 7,447 fresh infections in the past 24 hours. The recovery rate at 98.38 per cent accounted for 7,886 recuperations in the last 24 hours taking the total recoveries to 3,41,62,765. The daily positivity rate stood at 0.59 per cent, less than 2 per cent for 74 consecutive days.

The number of active cases stood at 86,415 accounting for 0.25 per cent of the total number of cases. The active cases reported a decline by 830 in the last 24 hours. However, the mortality rate recorded at 1.37 per cent reported a spike in deaths recording 391 fatalities, taking the cumulative death toll to 4,76,869.

Goa Health Minister through a tweet informed speculations of Omicron in the state. “Three passengers, who arrived in Goa from the UK on Friday morning, tested positive for coronavirus and their samples were sent for genome sequencing to know whether they are infected with the Omicron variant, the tweet informed. “

Fresh cases in Karnataka and Telangana have pushed India’s Omicron tally to 87. While Karnataka recorded five cases, neighbouring Telangana added four fresh cases of the new variant on Thursday. Delhi also reported four new cases. So far, Maharashtra has recorded the highest count at 32 while Rajasthan logged 17, Delhi detected 10, Karnataka documented 8, Telangana reported 6, Kerala and Gujarat counted 5. Only Andhra Pradesh, West Bengal, Tamil Nadu and Chandigarh reported a single case.

As per the statistics reported to Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, so far 135.99 crore COVID-19 vaccine doses have been administered in the country, including 70.46 lakh doses given in the last 24 hours.
