Raipur: On the birth anniversary of the first Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru, education experts from Rajasthan, Jharkhand and Chhattisgarh on Wednesday gave information on inclusive education in schools at the two-day Jawaharlal National Education Conference at DDU Auditorium in Raipur. To remove inequality in education, educationists stressed giving equal opportunities to education to other students including differently-abled and adopting innovation. In the lecture on inclusive education, the session’s chairperson Biraj Patnaik, executive director, NFI, said that it is not necessary to be literate only. It is also necessary to have the power to think and understand.
Patnaik said that the spread of inclusive education should be all-encompassing. He said that as long as there is discrimination in society, it is natural that this discrimination will continue even in schools. That is why it is very important to eradicate discrimination from society. In the lecture, Chhattisgarh educationist P. Ramesh, while giving information about the efforts made towards inclusive education in the state, said that schools are being run for the students of weaker sections including scheduled tribes, and scheduled castes.
Dr DN Singh, who came from Jharkhand, apprised him about the activities of the Education Department run by the Jharkhand School Education Department. Expressing concern about their today’s challenges, he said that children in Jharkhand leave school in search of livelihood and go to Delhi or some nearby states to work and thus their education is not completed. Taking this problem seriously, the state government has taken care of those children whose studies are left out in the middle of such a situation. Professor Sanjay Sengar of Rajasthan said that Rajasthan is a big state and there are different languages. Keeping these challenges in mind, the Rajasthan government decided to work on the language through five centres. Rajasthan School Education Department is also working to educate its children through All India Radio and Doordarshan. Along with this, focused work is being done on skill development through life skills.
