Raipur: As the paddy procurement has commenced in the state, nearly 16 farmers at the Datrenga Paddy Procurement centre sold 384 quintals of paddy so far. The Paddy procurement program commenced with the prayers at Kurra Bagtari Purchase centre in Dhamtari district. Paddy procurement program in the Hasaud district was initiated by the Food Minister Amarjeet Bhagat.

As a part of the Paddy Procurement program for the Kharif Season 2020-2021- authorities issued tokens to the farmers based on which the farmers could schedule their sale. The tokens would be issued between 9:30 am -5pm from Sunday to Friday at the paddy committee centres.

Earlier on Tuesday, CM Baghel held a joint meeting of officials from the Chhattisgarh Pradesh Association and Food and Cooperation Department, Food minister Amarjeet Bhagat and Agriculture Minister Ravinder Chaubey reviewing the preparation of the paddy procurement. The bumper procurement process of 105 lakh metric tonnes was scheduled from December 1, 2021-January 31,2021. The average quality of paddy will be procured at the cost of RS 1940/quintal, meanwhile, ‘A’ quality grade of paddy will be procured at Rs 1940/ quintal.

Making up for the insufficient supply of jute bags by the Union Govt, the state govt instructed the purchase of 1.13 lakh gathan of sacks from the open market and also permitted farmers to sell paddy in their own sacks.
