Raipur: On the 131st death anniversary of Mahatma Jyotiba Phule, Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel received the ‘Mahatma Phule Samata Award’ in Pune on Sunday. The honour was awarded to him by the council’s National President, Chhagan Bhujbal, during a celebration organised by the All India Mahatma Phule Samta Parishad at Mahatma Phule Memorial ‘Samta Bhoomi’ in Pune, according to state government authorities. Baghel was presented with a Phule turban, a shawl, prize money, and a memento by Bhujbal. In his speech, CM Baghel stated that the backwards reigned for 3,500 years in India’s 5,000-year history. During British rule, the country’s economy was shattered. Mahatma Jyotiba Phule strived for the formation of an equal society via social reform in such a circumstance.
He emphasised the need of using commodities made by small craftsmen to combat capitalism and marketism in today’s world. He said that, in comparison to their numbers, Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes now receive less reservation. However, no one is saying anything about it. He stated that the state administration is gathering measurable data in order to grant a 27% quota to other backward classes in Chhattisgarh. This case will be heard at the High Court soon. He said that under the Godhan Nyay Yojana, self-help organisations produce organic manure in state-run Gauthans (cowsheds) by purchasing cow dung for Rs 2 per kg. Thousands of women have found work as a result of this initiative around the state.
