Bhopal: Junior doctors of GMC (Gandhi Medical College) Bhopal protested on Monday for over 5 hours expressing their displeasure over the delay in counseling of NEET PG. As per close sources, doctors denied attending patients at the OPD and performing surgeries. The strike went on from 8am -1pm after which doctors resumed services, but called to continue holding strikes.
According to Junior Doctors Association(JUDA) President Dr Harish Pathak, there has been a shortage of PG students since 6 months due to which pressure over the resident doctors has mounted.As per the notification issued by the NEET Association the counselling for PG course was to be held in September. However, the counselling criterias gained a legal mileage after a case on reservations was scheduled in the SC for November 25th. The Federation Of Resident Doctors’ Association (FORDA) India decided to continue their protest agaisnt postponement of NEET-PG Counselling 2021.
This announcement stemed from a meeting with state RDA representatives on Saturday.”Already over-burdened and exhausted resident doctors of the nation fighting at the frontline since the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic, waited patiently till November 25 for some positive outcome of the ongoing Supreme Court proceedings over NEET-PG 2021 counselling,” FORDA had said in a statement. The hearing is further pushed to January 6th for which the Union Ministry has been approached by the FORDA office bearers.
