Raigarh: A bag containing jewellery worth Rs 15 lakh was stolen from the AC coach of the Howrah-Mumbai mail train in Raigarh, Chhattisgarh. The bag belonged to a businessman from Odisha. He was on his way to Raipur to attend a wedding ceremony along with his family. Meanwhile, someone took his bag of gold and diamond jewellery. On reaching Raipur, an FIR was lodged with the Government Railway Police (GRP), which has been sent to Raigarh GRP.
According to the information, Ashok Agarwal, a resident of Rourkela, Odisha, is a businessman. He was coming with family in AC coach A2 of Howrah-Mumbai Mail (12810) to attend a wedding ceremony in Raipur. At around 2 PM on Wednesday night, he boarded the train from Rourkela station and then went to sleep after keeping the luggage. When the train reached Kharsia ahead of Raigarh at around 4 in the morning, Ashok woke up. He saw that he did not have a black colour trolley bag.
He searched the bag on the train, but couldn’t find it, not seeing it there, he woke up the family members. When the train reached Raipur, the matter was given to the GRP. At present, CCTV footage is being investigated at the stations. After the incident of theft in the train, Railway Protection Force (RPF) has also become alert. It is being told that some clues have been found from the CCTV footage. RPF station in-charge Rajesh Verma and GRP station in charge Bhagat formed two teams. Information was shared from Kolkata to Nagpur. By forming a joint team, a checking campaign was also conducted from Raigarh to Jharsuguda in Utkal and South Bihar trains.
