Jagdalpur: 5 wagons and the locomotive of a goods train derailed on the Kirandul-Visakhapatnam railway section in Chhattisgarh’s Jagdalpur district after Naxalites removed tracks to disrupt train traffic on the eve of a bandh called by them, an official said. The train, loaded with iron ore, was on its way to Visakhapatnam from Kirandul, the official said, adding the incident took place around 10:30 pm in the forests under Bacheli police station limits, located about 450 km from here. Reportedly, there was no report of any casualties.
According to the information, the Maoists derailed goods train between Bhansi and Kamalur in the forest of Jhirka at around 8.35 PM on Friday night. It is being told that after the wheels of the goods train came off the track, dozens of Maoists present there also put up banner posters in the engine. A team of security personnel, including jawans of the Central Reserve Police Force and local police, and railway officials rushed to the spot to restore services.
Naxalites have paid tribute to their 27 Naxals killed in an encounter in Gadchiroli. In protest against this encounter, a bandh has been called in Chhattisgarh, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra, Odisha and Madhya Pradesh on November 27th. Earlier, the Central Committee of Naxalites issued a press note and called for a bandh. Now the police have also become alert regarding the bandh of Naxalites. Train movement from Kirandul to Jagdalpur has been stopped due to damage to the railway track. However, the Jagdalpur-Visakhapatnam route is operational.
