New Delhi: India recorded 7,579 fresh infections in the past 24 hours, lowest in 543 days. The recovery rate at 98.32 per cent accounted for 12,202 recuperations in the last 24 hours taking the total recoveries to 3,39,46,749. The daily positivity rate stood at 0.79 per cent, less than 2 per cent for 50 consecutive days.

The number of active cases stood at 1,13,584 accounting for 0.33 per cent of the total number of cases. The active cases reported a decline of 4859 in the last 24 hours. However, the mortality rate recorded at 1.35 per cent reported a spike in deaths recording 236 fatalities, taking the cumulative death toll to 4,66,147.

Worst hit state Maharashtra on Monday reported eight deaths and 656 new COVID-19 cases, lowest one-day figures since April 2020, a health department official said. Northeastern state Mizoram, logged 212 infections, and 2 mortalities.

Following the sudden surge in Germany and Denmark, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the State Department has issued a do not travel warning.

As per the statistics reported to Ministry of Family Health and Welfare, so far 117.63 crore COVID-19 vaccine doses have been administered in the country , including 71.92 lakh doses given in the last 24 hours.
