INDORE : Indore district has the highest clearance rate for claims submitted under the state’s PMJAY – Ayushman scheme. According to health department figures, only 1781 applications for Rs 2.97 crore have been denied thus far, compared to 1.21 lakh claims worth Rs 245.15 crores.

Around 100 hospitals, including eight public facilities, are empanelled under the system in the district. Since the scheme’s inception in September 2018, the number of hospitals in both districts and states has grown. Vivek Singh , district coordinator of Ayushman scheme said, ” Indore has the lowest number of claims being rejected under the scheme . The rejected claims are mostly from either MY hospital or Sri Aurobindo Institute of Medical Sciences (SAIMS).”

A total of 1100 claims have been rejected by these two institutes.

According to Singh, the number of rejected claims was high in the initial times, with the majority of them coming from the first six months. The number of claims that were rejected was reduced over time. Singh explained the reasons for the denial of the claims, ” Initially , because of choosing wrong packages for treatment of beneficiaries , submission of improper documents and other things are the reasons behind it . ” There are numerous claims among the 1781 that were wrongly rejected, he added. A review application has been made to state authorities in order to release the funds against those claims under the scheme he informed.
