Ambikapur: Ambikapur ranks number one among small towns in the Swachh Survekshan. On Saturday, the city’s Mayor Dr Ajay Tirkey and Municipal Corporation Commissioner Prabhakar Pandey was conferred the cleanliness award in the presence of Union Ministers including the President at Vigyan Bhawan in the national capital Delhi. For the fifth time now, Ambikapur city, home to nearly one lakh to three lakh people was awarded. Ambikapur bagged the cleanest city award in the category of small cities for the first time in 2017
Every year, a team of Quality Council of India, Government of India inspects cities and submits a report based on which the awards are conferred.
So far, Ambikapur has been awarded 4 consecutive times in the years 2017, 2018, 2019 and in the year 2020 in the category of small towns. In the last year’s survey, Ambikapur Municipal Corporation has also got five star rating. And is awarded as the ODF++ region.
