Raipur:  Domestic electricity users in Chhattisgarh have received significant relief. Chhattisgarh State Power Distribution Company has lowered the supplementary security payment for domestic consumers on the orders of Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel. The amount of additional security payments in domestic consumers’ bills has been cut in half.  Consumers who have deposited their bills will have 50 percent of the additional security fund deposited in their electricity bill modified in the following month.

Under the standing orders of the Chhattisgarh State Electricity Regulatory Commission, it is possible to take security payments. The difference between the Additional Security Fund and the previous year’s average electricity use is calculated in October of each year. It is computed using the current tariff after deducting the security deposit that has already been deposited in accordance with the requirements. The greater the amount difference, the greater the supplementary security fund’s liability.

The lockdown in the month of March last year, imprisoned several citizens to their residents which led to heavy utilization of electrical appliances yielding surplussed electricity charges.
