New Delhi: India recorded 11,271 fresh infections in the past 24 hours. The recovery rate at 98.26 per cent accounted for 11,376 recuperations in the last 24 hours taking the total recoveries to 3,38,37,859. The daily positivity rate stood at 0.90 per cent, less than 2 per cent for 41 consecutive days.

The number of active cases stood at 1,35,918 accounting for 0.39 per cent of the total number of cases, lowest in 17 months. The active cases reported a decline of 390 in the last 24 hours. However, the mortality rate recorded at 1.35 per cent reported a spike in deaths recording 285 fatalities, taking the cumulative death toll to 4,63,530.

The national capital recorded zero COVID attributed deaths and 56 fresh cases with a positivity rate of 0.10 per cent, as per the data submitted by the city health department. This descend in the COVID curve was reported after sudden rise on Friday where 62 fresh cases, the highest daily count since August 8, and two deaths after a gap of nearly three weeks was recorded in the region.

Northeastern belt emerges as a fresh concern after Four COVID-19 fatalities, and 221 fresh cases were observed on Saturday in Assam. Similarly 7 and 5 new infections in Meghalaya and Sikkim took the COVID tally to 84,013 and 32,096 respectively.

Over 112.01 crore COVID-19 vaccine doses have been administered in the country so far, including 57.43 lakh doses administered in the last 24 hours. As per ICMR, 12.55 lakh infected samples were tested in the last 24 hours. So far 62.37 crore samples have been tested.
