Raipur: Taking cognizance of illegal paddy transportation reports from neighborhing states to Chhattisgarh, Chief Minister has directed all District Collectors and Superintendents of Police to take strict action against this racket. Baghel has directed concerned officials to seal all the borders of neighbouring states in Chhattisgarh and scrutinize every logistic vehicle. He further asserted to ensure that farmers of the state do not face hitches during the transportation of paddy.

As per the notice issued earlier, the state govt has announced paddy procurement from farmers from December 1st. It should be noted that the farmers in Chhattisgarh are awarded better price of paddy than the border states and also recieve funds from the input subsidy under the Rajiv Gandhi Kisan Nyay Yojana. The above reasons have been cited responsible for the This is the reason for the illegal transportation of paddy from neighbouring states .

This year the state has decided to procure, nearly 105 lakh metric tons of paddy from farmers at minimum support price. Paddy will be procured through more than 2311 cooperative societies in the state.To avail benefits from the paddy procurement scheme, nearly 1.13 lakh new farmers have registered this year, in addition to the already registered 22 lakh 66 thousand farmers.
