J&K: On Tuesday morning, an earthquake measuring 4.3 on the Richter scale struck near Hanley, Jammu and Kashmir. The earthquake struck at a depth of 20 kilometres and 513 kilometres east of Hanley, according to the National Centre for Seismology (NCS). “Earthquake of Magnitude:4.3, Occurred on 02-11-2021, 09:31:19 IST, Lat: 33.39 and Long: 84.42, Depth: 20 Km, Location: 513km E of Hanley, Jammu and Kashmir,” NCS tweeted.
The State Investigation Agency (SIA), which would function as a nodal organisation for coordination with the National Investigation Agency (NIA) and other central agencies, has received approval from the Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) home department.
The SIA would be led by a director, and all security services would be required to report cases or arrests related to counter-insurgency to it. According to the regulation, officers in charge of police stations must immediately notify the SIA when terrorism-related cases are registered.
It stated that in circumstances when the investigation is not passed to the SIA, the police must keep the SIA informed of the investigation’s status at regular intervals, preferably every two weeks. In J&K, the NIA is investigating records of cases and has carried out raids with the assistance of other security agencies.
