Chhattisgarh: Police seized 20 kg ganja worth Rs. 84 Lakh from a truck in Chhattisgarh’s Mahasamund district and arrested 2 suspected smugglers, a senior officer said on Monday. The cannabis was concealed between the iron parts inside the truck which was transporting the contraband from Odisha. On a tip-off, the truck was intercepted on Monday at Temri Naka when it was headed towards Mahasamund, superintendent of police Praful Thakur said.
A truck was stopped by the Komkhan police, in which 2 youths were riding. When the police questioned both of them, they were not able to answer properly. The truck riders told that they were bringing iron parts, but the police were suspicious. Due to which the police searched the truck. In which hemp was kept inside the iron parts. After this, the police confiscated the ganja and also arrested the accused.
Both the accused, who are residents of Uttar Pradesh, have given their names as Sunni Kumar (19) and Vishnu Jadaun (23) during interrogation. Sunny is a resident of Mainpuri in Uttar Pradesh. Whereas, Vishnu Jadaun is a resident of Aligarh. The Police are now interrogating both. It is not yet known where the two were going with the ganja. Apart from ganja; the police have also seized a truck, iron parts, mobile and some cash worth Rs 12 lakh from the accused.
