J&K: 2 Army personnel were killed and 1 injured in a mine explosion near a forward post along the Line of Control in Rajouri district of Jammu and Kashmir on Saturday, officials said. Lt Rishi Kumar and Sepoy Manjit Singh were killed in a mine blast during an area domination patrol in the Kalal area of the Nowshera sector. Another soldier who received injuries is being treated, they added. Both the injured personnel were evacuated to a nearby military hospital and their condition is stated to be critical, they said.

“Lt Rishi Kumar was a resident of Begusarai, Bihar and Sepoy Manjit Singh native of Sirvewala, Bhatinda, Punjab. “The nation and Indian Army shall forever remain indebted to the Bravehearts for their supreme sacrifice,” it added. According to the officials, the blast took place in the Kalal area of the Nowshera sector when an army column was on patrol duty as part of the counter-infiltration measure to check the infiltration of terrorists from across the border.
