New Delhi: India recorded 12,428 fresh infections in the past 24 hours. According to the Union Ministry this has been the lowest rise since 238 days. The recovery rate at 98.19 per cent accounted for 15,951 recuperations in the last 24 hours taking the total recoveries to 3,35,83,318. The daily positivity rate stood at 1.10 per cent, less than 2 per cent for 22 consecutive days. The number of active cases stood at 1,63,816 accounting for 0. 48 per cent of the total number of cases.
The active cases reported a decline of 3879 in the last 24 hours. However, the mortality rate recorded at 1.33 per cent reported a spike in deaths recording 356 fatalities, taking the cumulative death toll to 4,55,068.
Worst hit state, Maharashtra reported 1,410 fresh infections in the last 24 hours. West Bengal reported 989 new cases, continuing to record an upward trend in new infection for the fourth consecutive day after the Durga Puja festival last week. Citing the surge, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee urged people to follow the safety protocols rigorously to curb the spread of the viral disease. Tamil Nadu extended Covid curbs in the state till November 15, although some restrictions have been eased. However, ban on celebrating festivals and organising political events continues.
Over 102. 94 crore COVID-19 vaccine doses have been administered in the country so far, including 64.75 lakh doses administered in the last 24 hours.
