Raipur : On the heels of the Tribal Dance festival commencing from 28 October in Raipur, State Cultural minister Amarjeet Bhagat welcomed the Nigerian team Monday morning. The Nigerian team led by Mr James has arrived to Chhattisgarh to participate in the tribal dance festival that is scheduled to be held in state. Folk artists from 27 states, six union territories and eight countries are expected to participate and portray their respective tribal folk culture.

The tribal festivelal 2.0 would be held at Science College Ground, Raipur from 28- 30 October. Roughly, 1000 artists from various dance troupes would participate, out of which 63 will be foreign artists. Indian states like Punjab, Chandigarh and Delhi would not be participating in the event as the states do not hold a tribal community.

A ‘Speaker Lounge’ would be setup where guests could share experience in field of arts, traditions, music, film, health, tourism, food-habits, and beliefs. An ethnic food court will also set up where visitors and tourists can relish the taste of traditional chattisgrahi cuisine right from the starters to the main course.

“The tribal dance festival will facilitate the promotion of rural development, environment and tourism. The socio-cultural diversity draws its strength from India’s composite culture”, said chief minister Bhupesh Baghel whilst taking stock of the arrangements during a meeting at his residence on October 24.

The state so far has recieved consent from foreign nations like Uganda, Nigeria, Uzbekistan, Swaziland, Male, Sri Lanka, Palestine and Syria that would send their troupes for the event.The Tribal Dance Festival was first celebrated in 2019 where the former Congress president Rahul Gandhi was invited as the chief guest. Owing to the pandemic the event was called off in 2020.
