Delhi: Ministry of Health and family Welfare’s Joint Secretary Lav Aggarwal on Tuesday said that 354 coronavirus cases and 8 deaths have been reported in India over the last 24 hours, taking the total number to 4,421 in India out of which 1,445 cases are related to Tablighi Jamaat.
While addressing the media in the daily press conference, Aggarwal mentioned that till now 326 people have been successfully recovered and discharged and the total death toll in India rose to 114.
Talking about Indian Railways, Lav Aggarwal said that Indian Railways has prepared around 40,000 isolation beds in 2500 coaches and for that they are making 375 isolation beds daily, the trains will be providing the assistance in across 133 locations all over the country
Emphasizing the importance of Social distancing, health ministry speaks about the recent ICMR (Indian council of Medical Research) study that shows if 1 covid19 patient does not follow lockdown or defies social distancing then the patient is capable of infecting 406 people in just 30 days.
R Gangakhedkar, ICMR Head Scientist, said in the press conference that 1,07,006 tests have been conducted till now and currently there are 136 government labs functioning exclusively for testing the virus and 59 private labs have been granted permission for the same.
