Amid the controversy surrounding conversion in Chhattisgarh, Governor Anusuiya Uikey has addressed a letter to Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel. The letter stated the complaints of forced conversion must be taken to court as it has been declared a crime by the governor. She has asked the government and the CM to take immediate action in the matters pertaining to the same.

The saffron party also sent Governor Anusuiya Uikey a memorandum about religious conversions in the state. This comes after Baghel said that when the Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) was in action, the state saw the highest number of conversions. Right-wing groups claim that Christian missionaries are converting significant numbers of people for financial gain in cities across the state, including tribal territories. This puts the local religion and culture in jeopardy. Governor in her letter advised legal action to be pursued against anyone accused of converting people to Christianity through compulsion, seduction, or greed.
