Uttar Pradesh: The Yogi Govt on Thursday, October 7th released the compensation of Rs 45 lakh to the kin of all the 8 people who died in the Lakhimpur Kheri incident, including 4farmers, 2 BJP workers, a driver and a journalist.

This disbursement comes ahead of the hearing scheduled today which will be lead by CJI NV Ramana alongside Justice Surya Kant and Justice Hima Kohli. The UP govt today morning constituted an enquiry commission as the incident gained political outcry. The enquiry commission would be headed by Allahabad HC Pradeep Kumar Srivastava who is directed to submit the report within two months from now.

Earlier on Wednesday, Chhattisgarh CM Bhupesh Baghel during his visit to Lucknow announced financial assistance of Rs 50 lakhs each for the families of the farmers and the journalist who died in the violence inflicted district on Sunday. Likewise, his Punjab counterpart also expressed solidarity with the bereaved families and announced a compensation of Rs 50 lakhs each from the Punjab Govt for the dependants of all the eight deceased including the journalist.

After the violence veiled as the protest aftermath, Bharatiya Kisan Union leader Rakesh Tikait on Sunday night reached the district after clearing police barriers. It is reported that the BKU leader held four rounds of negotiations with the administration. An official in UP informed that one family member was promised a govt job and financial compensation.  The authorities had also announced to pay a compensation of Rs 10 lakh each to the injured farmers.
