New Delhi: Paying tributes to Mahatma Gandhi on his 152nd birth anniversary, United Nations General Secretary Antonio Guterres said that the world should heed his message of peace and usher in a new trust and tolerance. Taking to his microblogging site, Guterres said, “Hatred, division and conflict have had their day. It is time to usher in a new era of peace, trust and tolerance. On this International Day of Non-Violence – Gandhi’s birthday – let’s heed his message of peace, and commit to building a better future for all.” Hatred, division and conflict have had their day, he further added.
India today outclassed all countries installing the largest Khadi National Flag in Leh town. The flag was inaugurated by Ladakh Lieutenant Governor RK Mathur. Army Chief General Manoj Mukund Naravane also solicited the event. Several leaders across the nation paid tribute to the Father of the Nation on his 152nd birth anniversary. Officials in Bengaluru organized a vintage car rally on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanthi. “We’re promoting tourism & safe driving. This is a good initiative to improve the overall ecosystem of road safety,” says Rajendra Khataria, Principal Sec to Govt, Transport Dept.
While the National capital also witnessed 10 cycle rallies organized by ITBP under Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav. Cycle rallies completed a distance of 16,426 km that includes rallies from high altitude Gogra, Hot Springs, Ladakh and Itanagar, Arunachal Pradesh, said ITBP.
